Explore Your Inner Child

with Transpersonal Art Therapy

Balara Art Therapy Studio LOGO
Is there an exhausted child within you that learned to wear a mask to survive the world?

Balara Art Therapy Studio exists for that child.

We’re here to help you find the studio within
and reconnect with your inner self.

ABOUT BATS

The Balloon, the Bat Wing, and the Studio.

Every name carries a story, Balara carries a child.

The name Balara comes from the ancient language, Sanskrit.

“Bala” meaning child, and “Ra”, the root associated with giving.

Together, they speak to the heart of what this transpersonal art therapy studio works to do.

It is a safe space designed to help you explore and return to your inner self.

There is a duality that comes with exploring the inner child with transpersonal art therapy,

and the balloon and the batwing in our logo tell the story of these two sides.

This exploration is not always going to be splashing paint across the wall and having fun,

although there is a healing aspect to this joy too.

But sometimes, it is sitting upside down, with the wounds we carry within that need the most tending. Unashamedly so.

Transpersonal art therapy can help us move beyond the masks we wear to survive in the world.

And in some ironic way, it is in facing the shadows that we begin to feel lighter,

and find our way back to the child within who was holding the string all along.

This is The Studio.

It is the sacred space within you that already holds all the equipment,

which deserves space to be explored.

The work we do here is yours.

A practitioner is simply there to help hold up the mirror, and provide guidance.

I am a qualified Transpersonal Art Therapist, poet, and founder of Balara Art Therapy Studio, based in

South Australia.

My heart is rooted in inner child exploration, approaching it with a holistic and transpersonal lens,

holding space for the whole person including their story, their psyche, and their inner world.

I am deeply committed to supporting clients navigate their inner world through transpersonal art therapy, particularly those carrying non-acute childhood wounds

including patterns of overthinking, self-abandonment and people-pleasing,

and artists wanting to reconnect with their creative journey.

As someone that struggled with verbal expression growing up,

I grew up hiding parts of myself within me until the mask became second skin,

and I lost the part of me that knew how to play, to create and just be.

Transpersonal art therapy helped me heal some of those inner childhood wounds,

and created meaning behind what I had buried.

This is where I found my balloon, the sacred circle where I could finally see all my truth laid out,

the light along with the shadows, both held in compassion. This is where my healing began to transform.

I’m passionate about helping you find your sacred circle, to hold space for both your shadows and light.

So come paint, write, cry, rage, or scribble, and find what lives within.

Welcome to the studio.

Hi, I'm Divya (she/her).

Therapeutic Approach

trauma-informed  |  creative-led  |  human-centred

The nervous system does not always speak in words.

Balara Art Therapy Studio’s therapeutic approach understands this and draws from a range of evidence-informed transpersonal art therapy methods including scribble work, emotion drawings, clay work, grounding and mindfulness-based exercises, somatic awareness approaches informed by transpersonal art therapy, and transpersonal processes that invite exploration of the psyche through symbolism, myth, and imagery.

These methods are not at all about being good at art,

it is about using art to support you

navigate and reconnect with your inner self.

Just like a child scribbling marker on the wall,

unbothered by how it looks, before the world stopped them.

We meet you where you are,

and navigate toward where you want to go.

Transpersonal art therapy holds you with

curiosity, care and open enquiry to the explorer in you.
